Epistemic Shadow Functions

The unconscious shadow of our primary type is largely responsible for those inexplicable decisions we make. They seem to defy logic and appear detrimental to ourselves. Our constant battle with the unconscious is highly significant. It determines our inner turmoil and contributes to our negative emotions. Understanding the perspective of the shadow offers us a chance to contend better with it. Furthermore, we may potentially satisfy the unmet needs that it points to.

Introverted Deduction

The shadow of introverted deduction is concerned with that which is considered unattractive or boring. It knows the primal drives, opinions and preferences that its user would rather not admit to themselves. This knowledge is used to form a sturdy grounds for judgement. Unconsciously, it uses logic to decide that which it desires and to remove that which it does not.

Introverted Induction

In the unconscious, introverted induction is looking out for novel experiences to satisfy the dark curiosities of the unconscious. Having met such curiosities, it will consider which of these satisfy it the most according to how frequently it goes back. This will result in bizarre tastes and obsessions. Whatever is found to meet these dark needs will become an unconscious preference.

Extroverted Deduction

Unconscious extroverted deduction will use what it knows to determine what it does not know. This can then be used to gain things that meet the primal desires of its user. They may pinpoint and acquire the objects of their desire with considerable accuracy. It is strategic and logical in the darkest way.

Extroverted Induction

In the shadow, extroverted induction will be identifying trends and patterns in the world around it. These trends will be analysed so that the user can maximise their chances of meeting their unconscious desire. They will appear to take gambles for rewards that they themselves don’t realise that they want.

Introverted Nihilism

Introverted nihilism causes a person to doubt the meaning of their own subjective experiences when it’s unconscious. It seeks to undermine the power of emotions and trivialise profound realisations. This causes a person to become numb to the more beautiful aspects of the human experience. Hence, it’s easier to pursue that which is ugly.

Introverted Spirituality

The shadow form of introverted spirituality causes grandiosity. A person may unconsciously believe that they are invincible, blameless or have an inflated sense of self-worth. This can result in a feeling of entitlement for those darker desires of the unconscious.

Extroverted Nihilism

Extroverted nihilism in its unconscious form can cause a person to doubt the meaning of what they see. They may feel that the world around them is depressing, ugly and lacking any real profundity. This can lead to feelings of hopelessness and despair that may later justify unconscious indulgence.

Extroverted Spirituality

The unconscious use of extroverted spirituality causes an exaggerated fear of the supernatural. A person may unconsciously hold superstitious beliefs that cause them to avoid certain things. This can lead to paranoia and fear of anything beyond a person’s understanding.
